How do exterior railings hold up to mountain winters and freeze-thaw?
Well, when detailed for it. The freeze-thaw cycles are the real test, so we finish steel through a multi-step process, detail the connections so meltwater cannot pool and freeze, and use marine-grade hardware on cable and glass. Built this way, an exterior railing handles the cold and the snow load season after season, including on a home that sits empty through winter.
How do exterior railings hold up to Olympia’s marine, damp conditions over time?
Well, when specified for it. The inlet air and the damp are hard on ordinary hardware, so near the water we use 316-grade stainless for cable and glass, finished steel or aluminum elsewhere, and seal every connection. On a historic porch we also check the structural backing so the railing anchors properly. Built this way, a railing handles years of marine exposure without corroding or loosening.
How do exterior railings hold up to Redmond’s wet, shaded conditions over time?
Well, when built for it. The tree canopy keeps decks damp, so the material and finish matter: a multi-step coating over steel, rust-free aluminum, marine-grade stainless for cable and glass hardware, and sealed connections. Built this way, a railing handles years of Redmond moisture without the staining or loosening a poorly finished system shows.
How do exterior railings hold up to Renton’s rain over time?
Well, when built for it. The material and finish are what matter: a multi-step coating over steel, rust-free aluminum, 316-grade stainless near the lake, and sealed connections so moisture cannot collect at the joints. Built this way, a railing handles years of Renton wet without the staining or loosening a poorly finished system shows after a few seasons.
How do exterior railings hold up to Seattle’s rain over time?
Well, when they are built for it. The key is the material and the finish: a multi-step coating over steel, naturally rust-free aluminum, marine-grade stainless near the water, and sealed connections so moisture cannot collect at the joints. A railing built this way handles years of Seattle wet without the staining or loosening that a poorly finished system shows after a few seasons.
How do exterior railings hold up to Tacoma’s salt air over time?
Well, when specified for it. The salt air off the Sound corrodes ordinary hardware, so near the water we use 316-grade stainless for cable and glass, finished steel or aluminum elsewhere, and seal every connection. On a historic porch we also check the structural backing so the railing anchors properly. Built this way, a railing handles years of coastal exposure without corroding.
How do exterior railings hold up to the Eastside weather over time?
Well, when they are built for it. The material and the finish are what matter: a multi-step coating over steel, rust-free aluminum, 316-grade stainless near the lake, and sealed connections so moisture cannot collect at the joints. Built this way, a railing handles years of Bellevue wet without the staining or loosening that a poorly finished system shows.
How do exterior railings hold up to the lakeside conditions over time?
Very well, when specified correctly. The lakeside damp is hard on ordinary hardware, so we use marine-grade stainless for glass and cable, bronze or rust-free aluminum where appropriate, and seal every connection. Built and finished this way, a railing handles years on the Medina waterfront without the corrosion or loosening a generic system would show.
How far do you travel for glass railing projects in the Cle Elum area?
Our shop is in Kent, about 90 minutes from Cle Elum over Snoqualmie Pass in normal driving conditions. We travel to Cle Elum, Roslyn, South Cle Elum, and the Suncadia resort area for both measurement and installation. For mountain projects we typically factor travel into the quote. We are direct about that cost up front so there are no surprises.
