How do exterior railings hold up to the lakeside conditions over time?
Very well, when specified correctly. The lakeside damp is hard on ordinary hardware, so we use marine-grade stainless for glass and cable, bronze or rust-free aluminum where appropriate, and seal every connection. Built and finished this way, a railing handles years on the Medina waterfront without the corrosion or loosening a generic system would show.
Do you install exterior railings outside of Medina too?
Yes. We install throughout Medina and the surrounding Points communities, across the Eastside, and around the greater Seattle and Puget Sound region, with all fabrication done from our Kent shop. We are accustomed to coordinating with architects, builders, and landscape designers on estates of this scale.
Can you combine materials like wood and metal on an exterior railing?
Yes, and on Medina estates it is often part of the design. A hardwood top rail over glass, cable, or metal can match the home's exterior woodwork, and we finish each material for the lakeside conditions. Because we fabricate in-house, we blend materials cleanly and coordinate them with the rest of the home's exterior metalwork.
What is the best exterior railing material for a Medina waterfront home?
It depends on the look, but the constant is marine-grade specification. Frameless glass keeps the lake view open and uses marine-grade stainless hardware. Stainless cable in 316-grade handles the lakeside air. Bronze weathers to a dignified patina, and aluminum will not corrode at all. We help you and your designer choose for each part of the property, always specified for the waterfront.
