Can you match cable railings to my cabin’s timber or existing railings?
Yes. We fabricate posts and top rails in the same shop as our glass and metal railings, so matching a timber cap, a powder-coat color, or a post profile you already have is straightforward. On log and timber decks, the surfaces are not flat or dimensionally consistent the way milled lumber is, so we assess the mounting points on the site visit and fabricate brackets that seat correctly against the actual surface. Bring us a photo of what is there and we will match the look.
How much maintenance do cable railings need in a mountain climate?
Very little. Stainless cable railings need an occasional wipe-down and a periodic check of the cable tension, and quality hardware tensioned correctly at install holds for years. On a Cle Elum home, including a vacation property that sits empty through the winter, that low upkeep is a real advantage, since there is nothing to seal or repaint between visits the way there is with a wood baluster railing. A wipe-down when you are up keeps the stainless bright.
