Do you coordinate with our architect?
Yes. We work from architect drawings, produce shop drawings for approval before fabrication, and coordinate finishes with the home's other metalwork. Bringing us in early is worthwhile on frameless glass in particular, since the structural provisions are far simpler to build in than to retrofit.
Can a modern railing keep privacy from the neighbors?
Yes, but not with glass or cable, which are transparent by design. Where a Clyde Hill terrace sits close to a boundary we use laser cut or perforated metal panels, which screen sightlines while remaining a designed architectural element rather than reading as a fence on a deck.
How exposed is the hardware on a hilltop lot?
More than most people expect. On an exposed Clyde Hill site, weather reaches the railing from every direction rather than predominantly one, and it is almost always the fixings and base connections that degrade first, not the railing itself. We specify stainless hardware and detail the base connections deliberately for that reason.
Which system interferes least with the view?
Frameless glass, particularly standoff mounted without a top cap. It is the most transparent option and the usual choice on a Clyde Hill view lot. Stainless cable is the next least intrusive and asks for less structure and less cleaning, which some owners prefer once they understand the maintenance a glass terrace railing actually needs.
