Do you travel over the Pass for modern railings?
Yes. We serve Cle Elum, Roslyn, South Cle Elum, Suncadia, and the wider Kittitas County area from our shop in Kent. We come out to measure, build and finish the system on the west side, then bring it over the Pass to install.
Will snow damage a glass railing?
Not the glass itself, which is toughened and structural. The consideration is snow and ice loading against the panels and how that load transfers into the mounting hardware and the deck structure. We account for it in the specification, which is the part a generic kit does not address.
Cable or glass for a Suncadia deck?
Cable sheds snow better and asks for far less maintenance, which is why it dominates modern mountain decks. Glass holds the view completely and has the real advantage of blocking wind on an exposed deck without closing the outlook down. Many properties use both, with glass on the windward side and cable elsewhere.
Do modern railings hold up to mountain winters?
Yes, when they are built for it. The demands are snow load bearing against the balustrade and repeated freeze thaw at every connection, and it is almost always the fixings and base connections that fail first, not the railing. We specify stainless hardware and detail the connections for that cycle, which matters especially on a home that sits unattended through winter.
