Not if it is built for the conditions. Redmond’s damp, shaded lots keep a fence wet much of the year, so we favor aluminum for the slat and vertical systems since it cannot rust, and we powder-coat steel over a primer and seal the posts at grade. Built this way, a fence stays sound under the canopy for years.
